What "Carrier Communication" Actually Means When Something Goes Wrong

"We handle carrier communication for you" is easy to say. Here's what it actually means in practice: when something comes up, you tell us — and we're the ones who chase it down until it's resolved, not you.

You Tell Us, We Chase It Down

A claim question, a coverage change, an enrollment issue — the moment you flag it to us, it becomes our job to get it sorted, not yours. You're not being handed a phone number to call or a portal to figure out. You raise it, and we run it down with the carrier on your behalf, start to finish.

We Already Have the Relationships So You Don't Have To

Every carrier we work with — BCBS of Oklahoma, UnitedHealthcare, Principal, Reliance Standard — we already have a real, ongoing relationship with someone there. That's not something you need to build or maintain. It already exists, so when you bring us something, we're not starting from zero either.

Whatever It Takes to Get It Resolved

Email, their portal, a phone call, following up again the next day if we don't hear back — we use whatever actually gets your issue resolved. That's on us to figure out and manage, not something you need to think about or track.

We Stay On It, Even When It Takes a Few Days

Carriers typically take a few days to respond, even to a known relationship. That's not a reason to let something sit — it's why we stay on it instead of filing your question away after the first email.

The One Exception: When HIPAA Means You Have to Be Involved

There's one situation where "you tell us, we handle it" doesn't fully apply: anything involving an individual employee's protected health information. A carrier legally can't discuss a specific person's medical or claims details with us unless that person has authorized it. When that comes up, we don't just disappear — we either point the employee to the exact number to call, or get on the call with them ourselves to help walk through the HIPAA authorization so we can actually be involved going forward. It's the one case where we need a person, not just a heads-up — but we're still doing the legwork of making that as painless as possible.

Why This Actually Matters

The alternative is being one voice among thousands on a carrier's general line, starting from scratch every time something comes up. When you bring it to us instead, it's going through a relationship that already exists — so your job is just letting us know, not figuring out who to call or how to get someone's attention.

Final Thoughts

Carrier communication as a service means one thing in practice: you flag it, we handle it, whatever that actually takes — and on the rare occasion we legally can't act alone, we still make sure you're not navigating it by yourself.
